Mox Baby Shoes

For Mox Baby Shoes we have arranged a beautiful product shoot on the beach. Together with them we have thought everything out and arranged the materials. Look below for the beautiful result.
This product shoot is made with a lot of passion and to make the story of Mox Baby Shoes even more known. Below these photos you will find the story behind Mox Baby Shoes. A beautiful story where a product gets a second life.

THE STORY OF MOX The founder of MOX baby shoes is Jolien Gielleit. The story of the baby moccasins started when Jolien graduated from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute in 2015. During her graduation project, she did a lot of research on ikat textiles from Indonesia, a beautiful handmade textile. As she learned more about it, Jolien became increasingly in love with this special fabric.

A niece was also born during this period. Jolien decided to combine her new love for ikat textiles with an old love: sewing baby clothes. As a maternity gift for her newborn niece, she sewed a piece of leather and a piece of baby moccasins. And there they were: the first pair of MOX baby shoes! IKAT Ikat is a traditional weaving method from Indonesia, where the fabric gets its print by dyeing the yarns before weaving. It is a labor-intensive craft; making one sarong can take up to 6 months! The ikats differ in color, print and meaning per place! Ikat not only fulfilled a functional role, but also a symbolic one: cultural values and ideas were reflected in the canvas. The textile was
for example, an important part of the dowry or inheritance. Ikat was also used as a medium of exchange. Ikat was also a sign of beneficence and prestige. The motif of the fabric said something about the social status of the wearer. NEW LIFE Unfortunately, the traditional ikat craft is becoming increasingly rare. As the younger generations move to the cities and no longer learn the craft from their parents, fewer and fewer people still master the craft. The ikats used for the collection are over 25 years old and come from Flores, a large island in eastern Indonesia. By using antique ikat in our designs, we create one-of-a-kind baby moccasins with a story. And at the same time we give this beautiful textile a valuable second life.
